Eligibility: We require that everyone going
llama trekking be in reasonably good health. Children
under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult
unless previously arranged. Well behaved dogs are welcome
but it is the owner’s responsibility to keep
them under control. Our llamas are accustomed to well
behaved dogs. Please note that llamas are pack animals
only and cannot be ridden. Parents will need to be
able to carry children who tire.
Food: Clients are welcome to bring their own
food. Alternatively, we can provide a range of picnic
menus. Special dietary requirements must be notified
in advance.
What to Bring: The best part of traveling with
llamas is that they carry all the supplies. Please
keep in mind however, that we still need to travel
light. It is essential to wear suitable footwear and
advisable to bring waterproofs which the llamas will
carry.
Equipment: Severnwye Llama Trekking will supply
all equipment including eating utensils, table and
camp chairs. The llamas will also be carrying cool
boxes.
Reservations: You can contact us by telephone
or e-mail. We are happy to hold a provisional reservation
for 5 days. After this period, we will require a deposit
of 25% of the estimated total cost of the trip in order
to make a definite booking.
Payment: A 25% deposit per person is required
at the time of booking. Full payment is due on the
day of the trip. We reserve the right to cancel trips
due to circumstances outside our control e.g. adverse
weather conditions. In such a case, we would be happy
to either reschedule the trip or refund the deposit
payment in full.
Emergency Care: Every precaution is taken
to ensure each person’s safety and the careful
handling of their belongings. We will only use safe
routes for our trips and are fully insured. A copy
of our public liability insurance certificate is available
on request. Our llamas will be carrying a basic first
aid kit but we cannot offer professional medical assistance.
We shall not assume any liability whatsoever for any
personal injuries or loss or damage to personal property
in the absence of negligence on our part. Our staff
will be carrying a mobile phone but some networks are
virtually useless in the Forest.
General: Please be aware that the Forestry
Commission does not allow the picking or removal of
any plants.
We aim to make your llama experience something you will
always remember and for all the right reasons.
Llama trekking is therapeutic. Time seems to become an
irrelevance in the company of these delightful animals.
Their incredible eyesight and hearing means that they
will identify with things long before you do, making them
perfect for walking in the forest. You will soon discover
that they are incredibly good natured, placid animals who
love human company
Prior to departure, you will be introduced to your llama
and given instructions on looking after him and yourself.
Part of your initial training will concentrate on llama
trekking safety – how to cross roads and other obstacles.
A skilled Severnwye guide will always be on hand. It should
be noted that all our llamas carry basic first aid kits.
