Smallbrook Farm - Llamas
We have 16 llamas kept at Smallbrook Farm that we use for
treks from Speech House Hotel and for displays, shows and other
events. The llamas graze happily with the camels and other animals.
We have separate enclosures when required but as the animals have
such good temperaments we rarely need to separate them.
The llamas graze on grass most of the time with some supplementary
feeding with hay in the winter. In very bad weather they can be
housed in the barn, but they are very hardy with thick coats that
throw off the very worst of the British weather. They are, like
most large animals, happier to be out rather than in. As their
feet do very little damage to the ground they do not poach grassland
like cattle or horses.
