Guided Treks
Llama treks normally start at 11am. and finish about 4pm. A llama trek with one of our experienced handlers and knowledgeable guide is an experience never to be forgotten.
Well behaved dogs are welcome to accompany us as all our animals are accustomed to coping with Pablo (collie), Dennis (spaniel) and Luigi (spinone) who always accompany us. The Forest of Dean is unique, its history absorbing, the vegetation awesome and the wildlife abundant. Enjoy secluded tours around hidden lakes, abandoned mineshafts (all now secure and safe!) and marvel at how life must have been for the locals, not so long ago. Listen to tales of the unexpected, told in a light hearted way, or marvel at the sheer splendor of the Royal Forest.
All treks start from Mallards Pike Lake in the Forest of Dean.
Severnwye Llama, Camel, Mule & Donkey Treks in the Royal Forest of Dean.
We meet at Mallards Pike Lake. Then you will be introduced to the Llamas, Camels, Mules and Donkey and your guide will show you how to handle them. They will carry all your provisions and kit for the day. The llamas and camels will then in their own lovely way proceed to teach you anything that your guide has forgotten! Our animals are extremely well trained and completely “bomb proof”.
Once we are all happy with our charges we leave Mallards Pike Lake and head directly into the centre of the Forest. We stop for our picnic and while the llamas and camels rest we enjoy our lunch.
Many of our trekkers accompany us back to Smallbrook to see the stud and breeding llamas with their offspring. Young llamas are called crias. This trek is 7 miles of very easy walking and is designed in such a way that we can easily shorten or lengthen it on the day. The llamas and camels walk at a pace to suit you. We are never in a hurry.
Severnwye Llama Trekking is indebted to Forestry Commission for their co-operation and assistance in using the Forest and related facilities.
